Who Are We
The Golden Bog Farm is a small, sustainable farm nestled in the heart of the Greater Sax-Zim Bog of Northern Minnesota. Inspired by the ancient Golden Bog of Cullen in Ireland, known as one of the most important and prolific archaeological sites, our farm carries forward a tradition of deep respect for the land. The name also evokes the golden hue of tamarack trees and goldenrod in the fall, a reminder of nature's vibrant cycle.
At The Golden Bog, we are committed to eco-friendly farming practices, focusing on no-till, pesticide-free gardening. We grow a diverse range of fresh produce including leafy greens, cucumbers, squash, herbs and other crops.
We also raise a small herd of cattle and flock of chickens, using rotational grazing to support soil health and promote biodiversity. Our focus is on cultivating a farm that nurtures both the land and its creatures. Fieldwork is mostly done by hand, ensuring a close, mindful connection with the earth.
As a queer, mixed-heritage family of Irish, Vietnamese, Native, and European descent, we prioritize environmental stewardship and community-building. We offer our farm-grown produce locally in Duluth, Hibbing, and Cotton, striving to make our harvests accessible and sustainable for all.
Our farming methods are rooted in a commitment to the land, its ecosystems, and the health of our community. We garden for health and wildlife, using no pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, and focus on creating a thriving, regenerative farm that benefits both people and the planet.
