About
About The Golden Bog Farm
The Golden Bog Farm was born in the fall, when tamarack trees and goldenrod are in full bloom, bringing the natural beauty of the land to life. Inspired by the Golden Bog of Cullen, Ireland, the name reflects both our Irish heritage and our background in anthropology. Our commitment to the land is deeply rooted in respect for nature, sustainability, and community.
Founded in 2021, we focus on regenerative farming practices—no-till, pesticide-free gardening, rotational grazing, and fostering native plants and wildlife. Our farm serves as a sanctuary for life, helping to regulate our microclimate in a time when environmental challenges are at the forefront. Our values center around growing food sustainably and providing for our community.
The Journey
The path to becoming a fully operational farm has come with challenges. From restoring our home and barn, which were originally built by Finnish homesteaders, to learning how to care for larger animals, every day has been a lesson. In the spring of 2024, we built a high tunnel to extend our growing season, allowing us to begin providing fresh produce to others through our market garden. Our herd is growing, and with each new experience, we continue to learn and evolve.
Meet Luke and Brandon
Luke, the gardener and ring maker, thrives during the colder months, using his creative energy to handcraft rings that reflect the beauty of nature. He is also the one who grows the plants that nourish both our farm and our community.
Brandon, who works with our livestock, is the heart of our homesteading and harvesting efforts. When he's not caring for our growing herd or cooking up something amazing, he's out at market days, sharing the bounty of our farm with others.
Brandon & Luke (September 2016, Rocky Mountain National Park)
With each adventure, we grow, evolve, and discover more about ourselves and the world around us.
Luke & Brandon (January 2024, North Shore)
We are drawn to the North Shore for its quiet charm, where the landscape feels timeless and offers a deep connection to the land.
